What is next: integrating with the factory
Originally published September 19, 2026.
The two fields an online store most often lies in are ‘in stock’ and ‘ships in X days’. Not out of bad faith, but because the data comes from a spreadsheet updated by hand, once a week.
What we are building
A direct link between the site and the factory's system, so that the availability shown is the real figure in the warehouse and the lead time is calculated rather than promised. When a lot runs out, the page shows it the same hour, not the following week.
Why it is taking time
Because the easy part is displaying a number and the hard part is standing behind it. An integration that breaks silently is worse than none at all: it would say ‘in stock’ with the authority of an automated system. Until it is reliable, we would rather write honestly that the date is an estimate.
What you see until then
On product pages, a price appears only after the supplier confirms it, and lead times are marked as estimates. The shipping status page says where we are at any moment.
